Vripack Yacht Design

Meet the yacht designers: Vripack

With extensive naval architecture and engineering experience, Vripack provides a holistic approach to luxury yacht design. The team remains intimately involved in every stage of the design process to deliver an unparalleled sense of safety, comfort, and security that makes you feel at home while at sea.

Vripack design philosophy

“The studio’s approach is governed by a playful interaction of form and beauty, intuition and intelligence, and balance and performance. The trained eye looks in vain at, say, a spiral staircase on one of its yachts, for the divide between aesthetic beauty and function. The same applies to every aspect of its creations.

It is second nature for the team members to consider all the elements in concert so that the interaction becomes seamless. Yet, this finely honed approach, along with the studio’s wealth of knowledge and experience, hasn’t narrowed its creative curiosity in any way.”

About Vripack

From the moment Vripack launched in 1961, the studio has considered the interplay between form and function to be at the core of its ship design. To date, Vripack has designed more than 8,000 vessels, from tenders, workboats, and ferries to ultra-luxury megayachts. In this time, the studio has refined its processes to maximize efficiency and effectiveness, delivering better boats in much less time.

M/Y Rock (24 meters)

Considered the SUV of the seas, M/Y Rock features a cozy and stylish interior housed within a rugged go-anywhere yachts – the perfect combination for comfortable adventure in an oceangoing home away from home.

This vessel is characterized by an expansive open-plan layout, offering 44% more interior space and 49% more exterior space than other yachts of a similar size. The contemporary design contrasts textured fabrics and soft furnishing with a maple wood finish. It also integrates uninterrupted sight lines to ensure constant views of the water.

The exterior is designed with a high straight bow, ensuring M/Y Rock glides through rougher seas. And the low aft allows for easy access to the water, following a design philosophy that ensures constant connection to the sea.

Vripack handled the interior design of M/Y Rock as part of a larger cross-collaborative project.

Supernova (60 meters)

The goals of Supernova’s owner was to craft a versatile yacht for explorative trips, allowing for diving in warmer climates and heli-skiing in colder ones. To that end, the bridge aft deck included an A-frame for helicopter flights and an integrated crane to carry and launch a large submersible and tenders. The vessel also offers space for two 12m containers to carry expedition gear, from bikes and beach buggies to cars for shoreside excursions.

Inside, the interior reflects a contemporary interpretation of classic American design. The dark wood paneling and muted color pallet is accentuated with bronze plating, soft leathers, textured walls, and oak furniture. At large, the interior follows an open-plan, no-door design aesthetic similar to a loft apartment, with dropdown balconies in the main saloon.

The most creative interior design feature is the double glass walkway on both sides of the yacht forward, which produces a transparent crew passage. This ensures passengers always have a view of the sea in the main saloon, making it seem as if the exterior side deck has the same floor as the interior.
