Studio Adam Voorhees design philosophy

“I am constantly exploring the narrative between the casually elegant with the cleverly unexpected.”

About Adam Voorhees

Even at 5 years old, Adam felt inspired to design and draw his own boats, complete with profiles and detailed sections. This nautical adoration only grew stronger throughout his youth, driving him to graduate with honors from the ArtCentre College of Design in Pasadena, California.

Adam began his career at Espen Oeino International in Monaco, and launched Studio Adam Voorhees upon returning to the United States. His limitless creative flair and technical expertise have earned Adam global renown, and helped him win multiple BOAT International World Superyacht Awards for design. He’s also an instructor at his alma mater, where he guides the next generation of luxury yacht designers in the exploration of innovative concepts and in-depth creative strategies.

Worth Avenue Yachts enjoys a close working relationship with Adam, most notably for the 2018 World Superyacht Award-winning M/Y Broadwater. Other successful collaborations with Worth include designs for Palmer Johnson and Alen Yachts.

Exploring new territories in luxury yacht design allows Adam Voorhees to lead the way in designing future yachting contexts and landscapes.

M/Y Broadwater (56 meters)

The World Superyacht Award-winning M/Y Broadwater blends the lofty pedigree of Feadship with state-of-the-art technology and the peerless bliss of fine creature comforts. This refit involved extensive interior and exterior changes, as well as a range of technical upgrades.

Broadwater’s design draws from a range of influences, from classical French and Italian art deco to indochine and mid-century Scandinavian, finished with Adam’s signature Californian flavor. Brushed rift European oak, open-grain black walnut, and fumed eucalyptus combine with patinated bronze and textured stones of Serpeggiante and Portoro, all under a palette of deep, sultry colors.

On the exterior, the project added a transformative 4-meter stern extension with complete beach club facilities, as well as new mast and canopy architecture on the sundeck. A spa pool, bar, and day head were included in the revised layout, equipping the yacht for everything from quiet, intimate dinners to unforgettable ocean-top parties.

A bespoke luxury yacht unlike any other, Broadwater exists in a league of its own as a flawless pastiche of past, present, and future.
