INTRODUCTION
KARUNA, the Buddhist principle of Compassion, is as fantastic to sail as she is beautiful! With her power winches, power roller furling sails, and flexible draft she can safely take you anywhere you wish to go. She has been constantly upgraded over the years with recent engine, teak decks, electronics, sails and rigging.
Her layout is practical and comfortable with three staterooms and three ensuite heads, great sea galley, beautiful salon and woodwork. There is plenty of storage in the forepeak which has two pilot berths as well as three lockers in the aft cockpit. The aft cockpit is ideal for fishing, swimming, sunning and showering, while the large center cockpit is the place to be while sailing or entertaining.
GENERAL ARRANGEMENT
KARUNA sleeps up to eight guests in three staterooms, each with its own head and shower plus one crew cabin forward. There are a total of 18 opening ports, 9 hatches and two companionways providing excellent light and ventilation, with electric Hella fans throughout.
Starting from the bow, the forepeak is very spacious and houses the hydraulic motor for the furling gear, the 24V Maxwell 3500 anchor windlass, 225 ft of 1/2” HT chain (new 2022) for the primary 80KG Bruce anchor and 250 ft of rode for the secondary 60Ib CQR anchor. There is also a storm anchor and rode in the lazarette. There is ample storage for dock lines and fenders as well.
The forepeak cabin sleeps two crew members, with storage above and below the berths. Access to foredeck through a deck hatch with fixed ladder. This space shares the port guest head and shower.
Aft of the forepeak on the port side is the head/shower which is shared with the crew cabin and one guest stateroom. The port stateroom has a double lower and single upper berth and has ample storage in drawers and a hanging locker. To starboard is the VIP stateroom with its own private head/electric toilet and shower. The VIP has a double berth, with lots of large storage compartments and a hanging locker.
Further aft, you enter the spacious salon with starboard dining area that comfortably seats six for a formal dinner. Along the port side is a large settee with cocktail table. The centerline settee can either be facing the salon table for dining or it can also face the port settee as a ‘living room’. The salon also features the custom-built storage/display cabinets in hand-cut beveled glass for the ship's glassware and china, as well as a built-in wine rack. Bookshelves finish off the area and house the entertainment center which consists of a mounted 32” TV/DVD flat screen and a Fusion stereo/CD player with sound bar.
Located starboard aft is the galley:
- Oven with four-burner propane stove with custom-built stainless steel cooking hood
- Built-in microwave (2018)
- Icemaker (2022)

To port is the nav station which houses the navigation instrumentation and computer. There is a chart table with storage and comfortable seating. Further aft are the access doors to the engine room where there is storage above.
The owner’s stateroom has a large double berth to port and a single berth to starboard. There are three bookshelves and two curtained storage spaces above the berths in addition to several drawers and cupboards for personal items. Both berths have large storage underneath. The vanity has a moveable seat with storage space as well as a mirrored cabinet.
There is a separate private entrance which leads to the aft cockpit.
The owner’s ensuite head contains an electric toilet and a separate shower with seat. The toilet and sink area contain several storage cabinets and a hanging locker behind the full-mirrored door.
Cockpit Arrangement
The main cockpit has a bimini top with spray hood with fold-out centerline table, with surrounding bench seating with cushions, as well as the ship’s helm and controls.
The aft cockpit has a spray hood and features three lockers with vents that lead overboard. One locker houses propane tanks. The aft lazarette is great for storing snorkel gear, floats, fishing tackle, etc. The port seat locker is for line storage.
