Columbus YachtsYachts for Sale
Columbus Yachts, part of the Palumbo Group, is yet another well-respected and reputed Italian shipyard offering the latest in yacht technology, including hybrid propulsion technology. Columbus Yachts are built to high quality standards and are technologically advanced with innovative design, but are known for their environmentally friendly studies which play an important role on design as well as technology. The Group has facilities in Naples, Sicily and Malta constructing custom yachts from 82feet / 25meters to 230feet / 70meters.
The Palumbo family has successfully been involved in shipping for nearly half a century. Palumbo Group was established in Naples in 1967 as a small carpentry and welding workshop for commercial ships. Now, after three generations, it has become one of the largest marine Groups in the Central Mediterranean and is still owned and managed by the founding family.
In 2008 the Palumbo Group branched out into luxury yachting and launched their first super yacht in 2011, symbolically named PRIMA, meaning ‘The First’. The 54-meter m/y PRIMA was a huge success at the 2011 Monaco Yacht Show and sold almost immediately. The Group then took over the super yacht repair and refit facility in Malta to provide turnkey service to super yacht clients as well as ship-owners. The Group now has a refit and super yacht construction facility in Naples; a commercial shipyard in Messina (Sicily); two refit yards in Malta, one for commercial shipping and the other for super yachts; and super yacht refit yard in Marseille. Columbus Yachts are greatly benefitted from the industrial technology and engineering of the parent company.
In 2015, two Columbus Yachts were launched on the same day; the 131foot / 40meter Columbus Sport DIVINE and the 187foot /57meter Columbus Classic TAIBA. DIVINE employs a Siemens Ecoprop propulsion that uses proven ship building technology applied to yachting. DIVINE received the 2016 Superyachts Award and the ShowBoats Design Awards for interiors, exteriors and styling. The Siemens Ecoprop system allows for each vessel to run in a conventional manner using the engines and in-line shafts, by using electric motors as shaft generators to power the boat, or with the main generators powering the electric motors so that the yacht can run at 7.5 knots in almost total silence. The system has received RINA’s “Hybrid Propulsion Y” along with “Green Star Plus Platinum” notation.
Columbus yachts currently offer the following yacht lines:
• LIBERTY – 108feet / 33meters and 125feet / 38meters
• SPORT HYBRID LINE – The semi-displacement all-aluminum Sport Hybrid yachts range from 25m to 65m and are powered by hybrid propulsion. Coupled with the aerodynamic light-weight hull, this system enables the yachts to run on generators at low speeds ensuring low environmental impact. The current line consists of the 40SH, 43SH, 45SH AND 47SH.
• BERLINETTA- 108feet / 33meters, 131feet / 40meters and 158feet / 48meters
• OCEANIC RANGE- 50M, 55M, 60M, 65M, 70M, 75M and 80M
• OCEANIC COUPÉ – 45M, 50M and 62M
• TOMAHAWK 55M – The 168foot / 51.30meter Explorer
The Company has been certified ISO 9001 since 1998, ISO 14000 since 2005 and conforms to the organizational and management model under the OHSAS 18001 standard. All activities are carried in compliance with existing laws and regulations concerning environmental protection.
