CouachYachts for Sale
Couach Yachts, now called Chantier Naval Couach (CNC), is a historic French shipyard with over 100 years of naval construction and know-how. Due to their longtime and ongoing experience with military naval projects, Couach is recognized worldwide for it’s reliable construction, deep V hulls, seaworthiness and strong research and development. The Chantier Naval Couach (CNC) shipyard is based in the Bassin d’Arcachon on the French Atlantic coast, where yachts ranging from 66feet / 20meters to 164feet / 50meters are constructed.
Albert Couach created the first marine engines in 1897 and thus, started the Couach entity. In 1946, Albert’s grandson, Guy Couach joined the family business and began designing and building boats for large scale production. In 1962, Guy Couach shipyards was established and switched production from wood and aluminum to fiberglass construction. By 1970, the company was a leader in suppliers of patrol boats for Navies and Coast Guard Administrations and Guy Couach constructed the world’s first yacht to employ Aramat, a composite material derived from Kevlar. By 1996, the shipyard aimed to the super yacht tailor-made construction. In 2005, the company took over the IMS shipyard in St. Mandrier (Toulon) which became its technical base in the Mediterranean. In 2009, the Vial Family bought Couach yachts, renamed it to Chantier Naval Couach (CNC) and opened a commercial agency and showroom in Cannes. In 2011, the Company Nepteam, held by local industrial investors, bought all the shares of the group Couach. Florent Battistella, head of Nepteam, stated “We’re investing in R&D so we develop even better techniques and features that we’ll be able to offer the clients. But we must be experts in our core manufacturing skills.”
Couach yachts are entirely built in Glass Kevlar® fiber hulls, which is 4 times more resistant to shocks than any aluminum or polyester hull. It is more rigid, more solid, lighter and thus faster with more autonomy. The R&D department works on military and civil projects. Thus, all their military expertise is transposed to the pleasure yacht range which replies to the requirements imposed by the military sector, especially in terms of construction procedures, technologies, reliability, security and boat behavior in extreme marine conditions. Couach is one of the rare shipyards in Europe to have dual competences in composite boats: design and construction of both high value technological patrol and security boats (the PLASCOA Couach range) and high-end luxury yachts (COUACH Yachts range). Acoustic performance is amongst the many technological advances evident in Couach yachts, probably the most noticeable is a significant reduction in sound and vibration. This has come about as a result of an advanced acoustic study which set specific numerical objectives for the yard which were even more demanding than those normally attained. Achieving these standards required a complete change in mounting methods, resulting in extremely quiet living spaces, relative to the boat speed and sea conditions. From equipment to layout to furniture design, the idea of “made-to-measure” has become Couach’s pursuit. To propose interior layout and design customized for each owner, Couach shipyard is surrounded by famous designers such as Ken Freivokh, Alfredo Pinto, Jean Pierre Fantini and Danielle Chopard.
Specialized over the years in high end composite yacht design and customization, Couach offers a wide range of boats: 1300 Hornet, 2300 Fly, 2600 Fly, 2600 Open, 2800 Open, 3000 Fly, 3500 Fly, 3700 Fly, 3800 Explorer, 4500 Fly and the 5000 Fly.
