Fincantieri Yachts, “the technology of beauty” is what they call this Italian Muggiano shipyard. Fincantieri Yachts are a testament to their famous yard’s engineering skills and a translation of its experience from commercial and naval shipbuilding to mega yachts over 230feet / 70meters, while incorporating the aesthetics that distinguish a mega yacht from a ship.

Fincantieri Yachts is part of Fincantieri, formerly known as Società Finanziaria Cantieri Navali. Originally founded in 1959 as a financial holding company, it became an operating company in 1984 and has built over 7,000 vessels. Fincantieri is one of the largest shipbuilding groups in the world and a leader in the construction of cruise ships, large ferries and naval vessels, including submarines. Fincantieri’s production network consists of 21 shipyards in four different continents, 3 design centers, a research center in the naval field, two production sites dedicated to the manufacturing of systems and mechanical components and a team of 19,000 employees. Fincantieri Marine Group is the U.S. subsidiary of Fincantieri and is comprised of three Great Lakes Shipyards: Fincantieri Marinette Marine, builder of the Freedom Class Littoral Combat Ship for the United States Navy; Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding, specialists in construction, repair and conversion of USCG and commercial vessels, including ATBs and OSVs; and Fincantieri ACE Marine, an aluminum construction facility and builder of the Response Boat-Medium for the USCG, as well as specializing in the design and construction high speed coastal intercept and patrol vessels.

The shipyard has built some of the most advanced ships in the world while setting many records, from building the first submarine to reach the Mariana Trench (11,033m deep) in 1960, to creating the Alliance, the world’s most silent ship, in 1986, and the most silent submarine in 2007, to producing the Destriero, which still holds the blue ribbon with a 65 knots peak speed and Atlantic cross at 53 knots average.

The first mega yacht delivered by Fincantieri was in 2011, the 440foot / 134meter Serene. In 2014, the then largest yacht ever built in Italy and one of the ten largest in the world, Ocean Victory (459feet / 140meters) was delivered.
