LeClercqYachts for Sale

Formerly Commercial Marine Construction in the 1940’s, LeClercq has a rich history in Seattle’s maritime history. Having begun as a small shipyard on Northlake Way in Seattle, Washington it grew quickly after a short stint building minesweepers and landing craft during World War II. Dave LeClercq transformed world-renowned naval architect William “Bill” Garden’s designs into finished boats. In 1959 after the Bristol Bay gillnet sailboat fleet began using engines, the business catapulted, launching over 70 boats per year. The pair grew into a new facility on Lake Union off Westlake Avenue where they specialized in building wood gill-netters, purse seines, and halibut fishing boats. After the 1964 Great Alaskan Earthquake destroyed most of the Alaskan fishing boat fleet, the pair worked overtime to ensure the fisherman could get back on the water. Their fierce work ethic was unmatched.

The partnership between Dave LeClercq and William “Bill” Garden lasted over five decades, as they worked together to build an impressive range of vessels including everything from tugboats, sailboats, and motoryachts. Bill Garden one said of Dave LeClercq “He was high energy, a natural, an excellent production man.”

LeClercq Marine was established in 1973, it was then they began building an impressive collection of custom superyachts. They partnered with more naval architects including Ed Monk Jr., Howard Apollonio, and Jack Sarin. Interior designers such as Christine Hallen-Berg and Sylvia Bolton completed the interior designs. In addition to building new yachts, they completed retrofits for custom yachts and superyachts. Having refit many yachts including the 101 Westport HOPE in the 1980’s, the extensive work included a new superstructure, interior layout, engine room, and mechanical systems.

Each yacht built by LeClercq is unique, some being express cruisers while others are sportfishing yachts. Some were built with fiberglass while others have aluminum hulls and superstructures. Their remarkable designs, build quality, and features were far ahead of their time.  You’ll immediately notice the distinct lines and massive deck areas.
